The School of Rock – Nashville is partnering with the Dixie Carter Performing Arts and Enrichment Center (DPAC) in Huntingdon to offer a oneweek Rock and Roll Camp for 3rd-12th graders from Monday, July 17 through Friday, July 21.
Cost is $250 per student with a limit of 20 students only. No cancellations. Students bring bottled water and a packed lunch each day.
From 9 a.m. 4 p.m., students will experience what it’s like to be in a Rock and Roll Band. They will learn how to be a team player/band member, build confidence, meet some great new friends, and, most importantly, have fun making music!
Group rehearsal, music trivia, song casting, one-on-one attention from instructors, gear education and band-related activities are all aimed at helping kids learn a new set of songs and be totally ready to rock them by the end of the week!
All levels of musical experience are welcome, whether you play drums, sing, shred guitar or bass or play keyboard – you will have a blast!
Dresden native, School of Rock franchise Nashville and Franklin owner and Hamilton Ryker President Kelly Mc-Creight said, “We’re excited to be partnering with The Dixie to offer a summer camp in West Tennessee. Our goal at the School of Rock is to teach music through performance, and there’s no better way to learn than by playing on stage.”
He added, “Similar to sports, students learn by practicing but by also playing in games. That’s what our summer camp is about—coming together to learn music and then perform it on stage with lights, sound, and a live audience. Playing music live teaches teamwork and collaboration, builds confidence, but mostly-it’s just a lot of fun!”
This one week camp culminates in a full-on rock concert by the students on Friday, July 21 at 7 p.m.
